Radium Wedding Photography :: Amanda & Jordan

Aug 10, 2013. The sun was shining, friends amassed in a quiet spot by the river in Kootenay National Park. You could feel the magic in the air as hand made decorations arrived to add ambiance to the picturesque riverside park.

Amanda and Jordan were wed in the presence of family and friends in a style that was every bit as unique as they both are. These two spent countless hours affixing butterflies to various decorations representing the growth of their relationship over the past few years. The location was chosen overlooking the Everlasting Mountains. The forest was devastated by fire a few years prior, and now the growth of new trees will be a testament to Amanda and Jordan’s growing love as they start on the journey of a lifetime together.

The theme of handmade artwork carried into their reception hall where Amanda’s grandmother lovingly adorned butterfly table markers with various quotes selected by Amanda and Jordan in beautiful hand done calligraphy. Their caterer provided a menu that shouted home made deliciousness.

The love of these two shone through the day as they danced into the night in each others arms.
Congratulations Amanda and “Jo-Jo”! All the best!

Calgary Food Photographer :: Fruit Ambrosia Salad

So, clearly I’m behind on blogging here. Since I think a blog should allow you to learn a bit more about me, I thought sharing some of my favourite recipes would give you a chance to drool over one of my favourite pass times, and maybe pick up a new delicious creation of your own.

Once a month, a small group of girlfriends and I decided we should make a point of getting together. Since scheduling is always an issue, one of them suggested that we do a “Ladies that Lunch” kind of thing, and it has been nothing but laughter ever since. We have tried to incorporate some themes into the lunch dates, not always the easiest idea, but it gives an extra challenge. All 5 of us are loving exchanging recipes and using each other as test subjects to new and re-worked recipes.

Today, I’ve made a classic holiday favourite. The theme is “Dance” and my rationale to this is, the jello in the dish Makes it Dance! ha ha ha…we will see if I get away with it!

Happy Friday Everyone! I’ll get on top of updating the blog a bit more regularly so stay tuned!

1c. Watermelon Jello prepared in the usual fashion the day before
1c. Vanilla Yogurt
1c. Shaved Coconut
1 1/2c. Pineapple pieces (preferably fresh)
1c. Red Grapes cut into half or thirds
1/2 Pomegranate seeded (and washed if lots of pith remains)
1 1/2c. Mini-Marshmellows

*tip* Easily seed a pomegranate by cutting it in half, then striking the skin side with a large spoon to knock the seeds out. We wary, this will produce a lot of juice also, so best to do it over a bowl. Also, you can rinse the seeds in a bowl of water and that should cause the pith to float (I haven’t had great luck with that bit, but it’s supposed to work).

Mix all the ingredients above gently until the fruit and marshmallows are coated with Jello and Yogurt. It is sometimes easier to mix the Jello and Yogurt prior to adding the fruit and coconut, but not completely necessary. I prefer to cut the fruit up into bite sized pieces so that I get a bit of everything in each bite, but it’s perfectly acceptable to leave the fruit chunky if that’s your thing!

Refrigerate for up to 2 days before serving.

Sharing a whole lotta beauty in one post! I couldn’t have been more excited when mom, Michele, asked me to take some photos of her and her beautiful girls.

The day of the shoot, we were fiercely texting back and forth as the storm clouds were rolling in right at the session appointment time! I quickly hurried the girls to meet me at a secondary location to avoid getting soaked as I know that I have NEVER loved any photo of myself drenched! Ha ha ha….As we moved to a covered patio, the clouds cleared up and the sun came back out to greet us. It made for some lovely lush green photos. We shared many laughs as the girls told me about their upcoming trip to Nashville, and we crooned together over Luke Bryan, and Hunter Hayes!

Wishing congratulations to Angie and Mark who welcomed their first child this summer, Benjamin! Angie knitted his blue and white hat all by herself in anticipation of the arrival of Mr. Ben and it photographed Awesome! I’m thinking I’ll need to hire her to make me some props for my tickle trunk.

Ben wasn’t having his happiest day when I came by, but we were able to get some great shots. And the best part? Mark took out his guitar and sang to all of us as we helped Ben relax into some sleeping positions. I wish I could have live music at all of my shoots! It was a very special treat!

What a fun wedding this was this summer! Lauren and Jeff have a style all their own and it showed in all the little details that they arranged themselves.

From home made white chocolate spicy popcorn (the most delicious little snack EVER!), to having a personalized Instagram account so that their guests could play along in creating some wonderful wedding day memories, these two paid attention to all the little details.

These are a few favourites of mine from their day. Congratulations Lauren & Jeff!

Welcome to the Touch of Pink Photography Blog!

There has been a lot happening at Touch of Pink over the summer! I enjoyed being a part of many weddings this season; Congratulations to all the wonderful couples that I had the distinct pleasure of photographing! There were also lots of babies, families and headshots that I had the pleasure of capturing. It will take me a bit of time to get on top of this blog thing as I haven’t had the opportunity until now to share my work in blog format, but I will be sharing some of the highlights from this summer shortly.

As you’ve likely noticed, the Touch of Pink Photography website has gone through an extensive facelift. Special thanks to Karyn at Inspired Media Marketing & Design for bringing my vision to life. We didn’t do a total re-branding, but you’ll notice that I’ve taken the charcoal grey right through to black to streamline and class up the look of the website and I LOVE it!

I have also been developing a special area in my home to meet with my clients, both current and prospective. I have put a lot of love into this space and am so excited about the results. I think it’s the perfect combination of vintage and modern, but you won’t see it in pictures, you’ll have to stop by for a glass of wine to see this one!

As we move into fall, there are a lot of requests for family photos. Christmas is coming and most people want to be able to send family current photos, especially of the kiddos, so be sure to contact me and book your session as I am quickly filling up!!

Thanks for checking out the new website! Be sure to check back often and see what Touch of Pink Photography is up to!
